R. C. (BOB) WOMACK – CHAIRMAN/OWNER OF AAA PRODUCTS INTERNATIONAL, INC.
Mr. Bob Womack went to the University of Texas at Arlington to study aeronautical engineering. He later withdrew from the University of Texas to pursue a career in the manufacturing industry. He became the director of tooling and maintenance for a plant making prefab buildings for the U.S. Army barracks and hospitals. He then started a special machine building business in 1942. Then, he served in the U.S. Army Air Force as a machinist and a welder in Germany, during the latter part of WWII.
Mr. Womack started the Womack Machine Supply Company in 1953. The business has grossed revenues of over 100 million dollars per year. It was later sold to its management in 2006. The company now operates in several states within the United States. It is now one of the top 100 fastest growing companies in the metroplex Dallas-FT Worth area. It ranked #38 in 2005 and #12 in 2006.
Through his company, Mr. Womack has made significant contributions to the field of hydraulics. He has also published five volumes of educational textbooks in this field. Machining and tooling have been Bob Womack’s life. Mr. Womack and his son Harry are still designing and building high production fluid power machines to make the AAA pneumatic valve product line more robust and efficient. AAA Products International, Inc. continues to produce one of the best air valves currently in use in many pneumatic systems across the world. AAA can produce over a 1000 valves in 5 working days, which is much faster than the industry average of 4 weeks from raw materials to final product.
Mr. Womack continues to work with major universities and colleges to advance and promulgate the benefits of special machines and tooling, with an emphasis on fluid power. Southern Methodist University’s school of engineering awarded Mr. Womack with a “recognition of honorary alumnus” on May 17, 2008. This is the first honorary degree bestowed by the university in its eighty year history.
